Aoyama Sogo Accounting Firm was established in 1999 by three partners, who set out to create a new kind of accounting firm in Japan, one that was pro-active and engaged in growing each client relationship.


A fresh approach to business

The fresh approach envisioned by the three founding partners, all CPAs with major audit firm experience, set the vision, values and culture of the company, and have guided ASA's consistent growth to this day. The company quickly attracted international companies looking to support their operations in Japan, responding to diverse requests in related fields of expertise to help them meet regulations and standards in Japan, as well as their company and home country.


Expanding strategic partnerships

This challenged us to blend the core services supplied by accounting services firms with financial consulting services, and to maintain an open, flexible and speedy approach to meeting these new needs. Over time, we expanded both our in-house expertise and our network of strategic partners, leveraging the knowledge and network bases of our people to cement our ability to offer a wider range of specific skill sets.


Anticipating future demands

We continue to expand the skills, expertise and experience we offer to enable us to be a pro-active force in rapidly changing global markets. Here in Japan, we actively recruit talented bilingual staff to better service our growing roster of international clients, and provide expertise in newly emerging fields such as renewable energy and healthcare.

Looking to the future, applying our core values of Innovation, Speed and Quality, we aim to become the leader in providing cross-border services in our field, in Japan.



Key milestones

1999
Aoyama Sogo Accounting Office established in Tokyo by 3 founding partners with 12 staff in total.
2003
Established the real estate securitization team, and introduced administration services for real estate funds
2005
Established Aoyama Sogo Licensed Tax Accountants as an independent corporation to provide focused tax services in the Japan market.
2007
Established ASA Asset Management Co., Ltd. to provide specialist real estate asset management services for professional and institutional investors in the Japan market.
2008
Established ASA Global Inc., the ASA Group holding company responsible for strategic planning and execution.
2009
Established a strategic partnership with Citco to boost the fund administration services we provide for multinational clients. Created specialist team to provide custom-tailored services in the growing healthcare market.
2010
Established strategic partnership with Aoba, with offices in Shanghai and Beijing, to provide market-specific services and solutions to Japanese companies in the Chinese market.
2011
Opened our Singapore office to provide international support and tax advisory services, with a special focus on maritime services. Created specialist teams to provide custom-tailored services in the growing renewable energy market.
2014
Changed name to Aoyama Sogo Accounting Firm to reflect the growing size and expertise of the company. Over 150 staff and growing.
